Ian H Stewart CM.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian H Stewart CM. Ian had been battling with Parkinson’s for some time and passed away on Friday 7th February, having been in hospital since mid January. Ian was one of the original Trustees of the Spirit of Normandy Trust and served for many years as Vice Chairman. He was a very talented man who used his skills widely, particularly to serve and remember the veterans of D Day and the Battle for Normandy. Ian designed the original logo for the Trust, was instrumental in the designs for the plaques at the Peace Garden in Caen as well as the Normandy Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum. He used his exceptional skills to design many medals, including the Normandy Medal that many veterans wear. But these are just the tip of the iceberg and Ian was always very generous with his skills and his time. He was also known for his great, but gentle, sense of humour and he will be sorely missed by many, in particular his wife Mary and the wider family to whom we express our sincere condolences.
